Yea it is a great thing to do not only because it is fun but if people are very into camping it can be good training for surviving. But not many people think of camping as a skill.

I go camping probably 5 times a year, and I do it the right way. No cabins or trailers. A tent on the water with friends.

I agree with you, don't want to sound like a prepper nut head if you know what I mean?

Actually just got back from a Myrtle Beach camping trip. Uncle just got a new fifth wheel so we took her out and it was a beautiful Thanksgiving weekend.

Oh, jeez. I've gone camping once or twice but I never really enjoyed it. Once the family went on a big camping trip and it turned out poorly planned and miserable. The food wasn't edible, the sleeping ground was covered in rocks, and it turned out to be one of the coldest nights of the year. I've gone a couple of other times that turned out better, but that really soured for me. Camping's not my thing, wouldn't do it again unless a friend wanted me to.

Try camping in a state park with designated camping areas. Plan well and watch the forecast. When planning and timing is executed well, camping with the family is very fun and quite the experience.
