Russia’s biggest social networking site VK.com was hacked. More than 100 million accounts are now up for sale on the dark web.

The stolen database posted online includes critical personal information such as names, email addresses, passwords, geolocations and in some cases, even phone numbers. LeakedSource has acquired the data, which was provided to them by a user going by the alias Tessa88.

The hacker claimed that the passwords were in plain text at the time of the hack and have not been cracked later. LeakedSource’s analysis of the data revealed that the most popular password used by VK users was “123456”, which was used by over 700,000 users.
If you have an account on VK, please go ahead and change your password.

IF true, it's scary to think that there are still websites as big as this that aren't using encryption systems in their back end ...
Thanks for sharing and alerting our members though!

There are alot of theories, but it's true that the website got hacked back in 2012. This revealed that VK was storing the passwords in a unencrypted text file.

Personally I won't register on a website with this kind of security.

Note to all users:
Please don't use simple passwords like "123456" or "qwerty". Your online privacy is the most important thing!

Oh my goodness, to think that I've never even knew it existed! Its a sign that we've got to be careful when choosing our password! Its got to be a mix of numbers and letters, that way, it'll be difficult to hack into! Anyways, they won't hack into my account as I've never been on VK.com. Actually, its the first time I've heard of the site of my whole life. So to hear it got hacked, its a shocker to me!
