Worst Gaming Companies
#1
Everybody has list of the worst and the best brands in the gaming industry. This includes game developers, as well as publishers. Let’s take talk about some of the companies that appear in almost every gamer and developer’s lists.

GameStop

Gamestop has been named the 10th-worst place to work in America, according to a study conducted by Glassdoor back in 2012. According to the people that are currently working in Gamestop, the company will climb its way to the top 3 in the next few years.

Gamestop sells a game for $60, they get a $10 cut of that. Not great, but not bad. The player beats the game and wants to sell it back. Gamestop says that they’ll give them $20 for it. They turn around and sell it for $50. Someone else buys it, putting a full $50 into Gamestop’s pocket with nothing going to the developer or publisher. The new player beats the game and sells it back a month or two later. Gamestop says they’ll take it for $10, and then immediately flip it for $40. Off one copy of a game, Gamestop has made $70 while those who actually made the game got far less.

Konami

The company was founded in 1969 as a jukebox rental and repair business in Japan, by Kagemasa Kōzuki and now it’s one of the largest names in the gaming world. Arguably the most controversial at the moment, Konami’s franchises have slowly been diminishing, to the point where their are petitions to give the franchise rights to over companies. Also, with the apparent mistreatment of employees, some have to call into question how long the company will last. One of the reasons for the hate is because of the recent events that occured, like the cancellation of Silent Hills.

Zynga

Zynga is an American provider of social video game services founded in July 2007. “Be your own CEO” is one of Zynga’s favorite ideas, but unfortunately, it’s also the most destructive when combined with inexperienced management. When employees are left to fend for themselves and define their own roles, it results in ruthless politics and an “everyone for themselves” attitude.

Some of the issues are ranging from the company’s propensity to imitate others’ game concepts to a perception that it is both insensitive to the indie game development community and committed to profit above design principles. And, some designers charge that Zynga’s games, frequently built around users repeating a few rote tasks again and again in search of reward, are watering down the idea of what games are.

Electronic Arts

Electronic Arts (EA), also known as EA Games, is an American developer, publisher and distributor of video games. The company grew fast, but it also became one of the world’s most hated gaming companies. There are a bunch of reasons why everyone hates them. Let’s start with the first one!

Activision

Activision is an American video game publisher. It was founded on October 1, 1979 and was the world’s first independent developer and distributor of video games for gaming consoles. With the recent CoD disaster and the World of Warcraft Legacy Server issue, Activision quickly turned into one of the most hated game publishers. Every game gets destroyed if Activision gets close to it, according to the gamers. Considering the fact that they have the audacity to develop what the Call of Duty community say they don’t want just goes to show how much Activision doesn’t care about the fans, instead they put out an even more futuristic Call of Duty game for some apparant reason. No wonder why Battlefield 1 buried Infinite Warfare.

I can't believe the list omitted GamersFirst and Reloaded Games. Just play APB Reloaded if you don't believe me! :P

Now this is a list that I can totally agree upon.  Icon_e_wink Though, I would scratch the part about the World of Warcraft legacy server issues under Activision, as that is part of Blizzard Entertainment. Yes Activision Blizzard, but that was totally part on Blizzard's side.  Icon_shifty

Call of Duty is a pretty unoriginal and lackluster series of video games as well. They basically copy last year's game, make a new single-player campaign, add a couple of small features to the multiplayer mode, and mark the price up to $60.
