What's sadder is the fact that you two are arguing over it. Let it go.
Yonkers, you might learn more by practicing the fundamentals and working on sketching before trying to create finished products.

If you are serious about getting into any sort of graphic design you should get your **** to school for it.
Regardless of your quality of work currently you should look in to getting educated as well as finding out what tools/programs you should be using to make your work as professional and clean as possible.
At 17 you should be starting to think about where you want to go with your talents and not just making little clipart graphics for fun.
And if you manange to make something of yourself in the design world do you really want people researching your name and finding threads like this where you very quickly start arguing with children on the internet? I speak from experience when I say that future employers absolutely will do their homework on you and try to find out every little thing about you.
This isn't an attack or anything petty like that, just some words you need to consider.
Take from it what you will, but sooner or later you are going to have to get your shit together and decide what it is you want to do with yourself instead of pissing for distance against strangers on the internet.
