Is Diablo 3 worth it?

I've played games like torchlight 2 and enjoyed these, but i heard diablo 3 is rather limited and lacks mechanics compared to others.
An irl mate of mine is trying to get me into it but i don't feel like spending 50€ on a game i'll play for a few hours only.

Is it worth it in your opinion? if yes, why? if no, why?

I enjoyed playing it when I first got it. The story felt pretty short and really repetitive though, but I don't have the new add on so I can't really judge the story. But it is very fun when you play with friends! If you have the money to spend and enjoy games like it then I recommend it. Also you could watch some gameplay on it.
