This isn't hard to do at all, but does take a couple minutes.
First, sign up for a Gmail account and create a YouTube channel. Then, create a custom URL by going to Advanced Settings. Choose wisely! This will be the name of your channel. Once you're done with that, go to Google+ and delete your Google+ profile. This will delete your channel, but you'll get it back soon. Go back to YouTube and click "My Channel". You'll be prompted to choose a first and last name; ignore that and click Use a Business or Custom Name. Once you do that, you'll be shown your custom URL. This is the name of your channel; it cannot be changed. Hit Enter and we're done! You now have a YouTube channel without Google+!
