The Future of Gaming
#1
Where do you think the future of video gaming is going? It started off in small bars that ate quarters. Now it's a complete media machine that is in a lot of homes. What will we see in the next 10 years or so?

I think gaming will be far scarier in ten years. With virtual reality headsets becoming more popular and getting more funding, I foresee it eventually becoming a completely immersive experience. The VR headsets, like the "Occulus," will become the next standard in the next five years I think. After that, I think it will be the standard for about five more years.

I think in ten years, we will begin to see more immersive technology than VR headsets. I think eventually we will be able to game without the use of controllers, with brain wave interpretation technology in some form or fashion. I am pretty scared by it to be honest.

These things are just my opinion. It would not be shocking to me, however, if this happened to be the case.

I think that in 10 years we could see more and more competitive games being popular as we can see today's example in League of Legends. These type of games will be popular and you could really make a living just by playing these games. I think that the virtual reality gaming will become more and more advanced and I hope that in 10 years we would reach such an improvement that we couldn't tell the real from the virtual. The technology is developing pretty fast, but I hope that I don't expect too much from the 10 years in the future.

I think consoles are becoming more like computers. They require internet and software maintenance. So thats where I think they are going.

In a few more years, games will become so realistic, it would be difficult to differentiate reality from games. Many people will become so addicted, they will no longer stop playing.

Of course, this is a very scary scenario. I jnow that even though games will develop more and more in the next few years, people will still have the time to spend eith each other outside their games.
Expecto Patronum!

It would be awesome if competitive gaming really picked up. I'm not to interested in sports competitive gaming. I'm more into the duel competitive scene. I would still be playing quake if it didn't have all of its satanic imagery in the game.

Duel game modes have a high learning curve; but of all competitive gaming that I have scene, nothing compares as a spectator to watching 1v1 Lan tournaments. They re always action packed and intense, particularly as you get final 8 or 16 players. Those best of 3, best of 5, best of 7 series are ridiculously entertaining to watch.

Look up a Rapha Vs Cooler video on youtube and you will see what I mean easily.

I think you're right on with this. The Rift and other VR headsets are the future. We'll be completely immersed in games. That being said, I see a pullback of the actual movement mechanics that became so popular with the Wii. Players will return to the "sit on our butts" method and think less about the joys of swinging your arms and more about precision.

I don't want to talk about the future of DLC and freemium games, because it just makes me sad.

I don't think gaming is going to change that much in the coming 10 years as it did the last 10 years, the graphics will still improve but the difference won't be as big anymore, and hopefully game quality will get higher and they won't resort to the usage of so many tropes anymore. Personally, I hope real time graphics will become as good as pre-rendered CGI movies, but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.

Last 10 years were more like researching kinda thing. If we look few years back there wasn't anything that special, but now so much has changed. I believe there's coming something really-really awesome near future.
