So I have an old PlayStation 3 sitting in my shed somewhere it's a big black 64gb or something like that, it had the YLOD a few times and my uncle fixxed it but he got a new one and just left it in my shed, so I was wondering if you guys know any YLOD fixxes I should try, and how do you know if it's jailbrakeable?Â

I happened to apply a hairdryer to the side of my console for 5 minutes (moving it around to not completely melt anything), rebooted it and it worked (hasn't died yet had it for 6 months since it happened).

The playstation 3, I think, never saw its full potential. I remember researching the PS4 and the XBox One through the TGN youtube channel. They went through the generations of the systems, and they spoke about how at the latter end of the PS3's life, the graphical capabilities were just being unlocked at great potential.
The issue with the PS3 was that it was difficult to develop for. Its architecture was pretty complicated, not being based x86 design. That was why the Xbos 360 out performed it in so many ways. It was not until the end of its cycle, about a year before the next generation systems were releasing, that we really began to see how much more powerful it was than the Xbox 360.
Games like Beyond Two Souls, and many other Sony exclusive titles, really began to show the processor powering of that undercover beast of a system. I don't think we will ever see its full capabilities.

What is YLOD? I'm not really familiar with many gaming acronyms.
