Deadpool hype?
#1
When I saw Wolverine Origins, and what it did to Deadpool, I was saddened. Ryan Reynolds showed some potential at the beginning of the movie, but that stupid film eviscerated the character. Yes, let's sew his mouth shut, that makes perfect sense. Then there were vague hints of a Deadpool standalone movie, but if it was gonna be based on that character I would not be a party it to it.

Flash forward to today. Deadpool is probably my most-anticipated movie of 2016. It looks fantastic. Reynolds looks to have nailed Deadpool's irreverent, never-shut-up attitude, and the trailers have just the right combo of humour, silliness, and darkness that I've come to expect from a Deadpool story. The marketing's been amazing, as well - seems like they can't get that dude out of his suit for two minutes.

Anyone else looking forward to this movie? And since it's coming out soon, this thread seems a logical enough place to chat about it as well.

I've had the fortune to watch the movie in the theatre, and I loved every second of it! It's just awesome! Ryan Reynolds totally kills it as Deadpool (punny, right! :P ) The movie's filled with just the right amount of xrazy action, superb comedy and fourth wall breaks so as to keep you entertained throughout the entirety of its runtime. And i especially loved Collosus. He's such a nice chunk of indestructible metal... uhm, I mean guy! :P

Just saw it yesterday, personally. Pretty great movie. I knew as soon as the credits sequence got underway that I was going to like the rest, and I wasn't disappointed. There were a few points where I felt the flashback sequence of his origins was dragging a little, but besides that it was a pretty ideal 'superhero' movie. He's such a nice, violent departure from normal heroes.

I was pleasantly surprised by Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, as well. I'd heard they were pretty meh, but I liked both of them, particularly Colossus. He's gotten a raw deal in previous X-Men movies, so it's nice to see him stand out and get, you know, an actual role.

I can't wait to go see this movie!
The hype I'm hoping lives up to it, but from the feedback I've seen It seems like I won't be disappointed.

I had never heard of Deadpool before the commercials for this movie started releasing. But it looks pretty cool, and I think I'll probably check it out too. If nothing else, I will check it out because I think Ryan Reynolds is really cute, lol. But I do think the commercials show great potential to be a good movie. Not the same thing, but I did love the Amazing Spiderman with Andrew Garfield so I have been on a new kick with superhero/comic book character movies these days whereas before...not so much.

I wasn't really interested in the movie, but it's everywhere and I think that the hype is slowly getting to me.
Yesterday I had a dream that Deadpool was hanging from my window on a Spiderman-like rope, and I didn't want to go to work cause I wanted to sit at home and literally watch him climb.
I guess all that marketing has worked on my subconscious :D But seriously, Deadpool is everywhere! Not as much as those pesky minions (there's a shop near me that sells vegetables, fruits...and bootleg Minion and Frozen merch).

Deadpool is so much funnier than Minions, though.

Plus if he ever saw one he'd probably plug it in the head with a dozen bullets and joke about it looking like a giant twinkie or something.

And I would applaud him.

(I don't like the Minions very much.)

Dude, don't get me started on Minions. I HATE them. I had some issues with the first Despicable Me (the fat shaming of the villain...), but it was a sweet movie that accustomed kids with the fact that some families don't fit the nuclear mold and that's okay.
Then the franchise got bought (I think? I'm 100% sure that the screenwriter and director of the sequel has changed) and everything went downhill from there. The sequel had sexist plot that destroyed everything good about the first movie (father wanting to murder his daughter's boyfriend is presented as a proof of fatherly love, suddenly kids got to have mother and Gru a wife, there's a disgusting scene that seems...inspired...by date rape, and we're supposed to laugh at the victim cause she's a shallow blonde and the protag is the perpetrator, holy shit) and started the whole Minion craze. Oh, and there was also a disgusting racist stereotype of Mexican people.

Deadpool sounds like One Of Us from your description. Is it true that he's bisexual? I have to see the movie when it comes out on DVD.
