Have you ever Kickstarted a game?

Or crowdfunded in general? I haven't. As much as I tend to love indie games, I can't bring myself to toss money at something that doesn't currently exist. I might if I had more money, and this may explain why I'm not an investor, but there you go. I know a lot of people do crowdfund upcoming games, though, and it'd be neat to hear some positive experiences with crowdfunding indie developers.

I have kickstarted a game called stonehearth. I get to watch the devs twitch the developmental process, backed up with pretty common updates of the game itself on youtube. I've actually been in the twitch stream where the dev, Tom, takes ideas from us and try to incorporate it. Not all the ideas, mind you but a few that was possible. So yes, I think careful consideration should be taken when doing any kickstarter item or game. I mean, you really are taking a risk arent you? No real proof other than some photo's that could easily be doctored up!

There was this water jug thing I kickstarted too, with a set of advanced filters that supposedly makes it safe to drink any water at all, that was cool too, haha.

I have never kickstarted a game or helped crowdfund one either. However, I have helped crowdfund one of my favorite bands music videos twice. That was a different story, and I was glad I was able to help.

My wife does this a lot. She has a few musicians she funds almost on a monthly basis.

And now that I think about it, though I haven't kickstarted a game I have at least bought Greenlight games before. It's not quite the same thing, but it's pretty close.
