What's yours and why?

I've been playing the series since the first one, though I haven't played Black Ops 3 yet.
My favorites are CoD4: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, CoD2, Advanced Warfare and Black Ops, probably in that order.

The first Modern Warfare was my favorite because it was very fresh at the time, the switch in setting from the by-then tired WWII scenario to a modern setting. Everything felt new and exciting, and the missions certainly delivered on that expectation. Additionally, the story was quite good and the SAS missions are among the most memorable in all my experiences in FPS games, including one of my all-time favorite video-game memories, the sniper missions in Pripyat.
It had an excellent balance between realism and artistic license to enhance the gameplay, excellent music (I feel that sometimes even superior to the higher budget pieces made later on by recognized composers) and the beginning of the multiplayer system that revolutionized FPS online gaming and lead the series to consecutive sales records.
What an amazing game it is almost 10 years later.

I haven't really played CoD before on multiplayer, not until CoD Black Ops 3 and because of that I would say that I think that one is my favorite.

CoD:4 was the first CoD I ever played, WaW was the first CoD I bought, Mw2 is just the best to me, and BO3 got me back into CoD.

First and foremost will always be Black Ops 2, the one where I spent weeks on with my friends owning the masses online. Taking breaks from multiplayer and into zombies also produced some of the best moments and memories in gaming history for me.

Now Modern Warfare 2 was the first game in the series that I played, but I didn't spend nearly as much time on it as I did with Black Ops 1 and 2.

Black Ops 3 is great too; I'm really enjoying the supply drop feature. It was far better implemented in that game than what Sledgehammer did in Advanced Warfare.

Lastly, Modern Warfare 3 and Ghosts were honestly duds to me, since I never touched them much.

I would have to say Modern Warfare 2, honestly CoD would've been fine just releasing a bit more content for that game and skipping the next CoD release. That would've definitely been better for them. I honestly think that at it's time Modern Warfare 2 was the best CoD game, the only reason I would like any other CoD better is for graphics.
