I know at least a little something about nearly everything.

Asparagus makes your urine smell funky due to a chemical called mercaptan, which is the same sulphurous compound found in rotten eggs and onions.
As far as I know everyone creates smelly pee when they eat asparagus, but only 20-50 percent of people can actually smell it.
So if you have never smelled asparagus pee then you are experiencing a specific case of anosmia (loss of sense of smell) that a lot of people have simply because their brains/noses aren't wired to recognise that specific chemical.
