I don't believe the PS4 is jailbroken. That could be because I am not interested in jailbreaking in, and therefore haven't looked for a method to do so. I see no reason for me to jailbreak it. I am not sure what "legal" advantages there will be for me in doing so. Could someone share some? Is it even possible to jailbreak it?

I have never owned a PS3. I wanted one, and my mother wanted to buy my wife and I a console. My wife wanted a Wii, I wanted a Playstation 3. My wife won out. I bought a PS4 when it released, and the system is outstanding. I have had a rather enjoyable experience with my Playstation 4. I have played a PS3 since this time, and the experience is painful because the OS is so slow, and the UI feels cumbersome. It is a system I never want to touch.

Assuming it is able to be jailbroke its legal to jailbreak. The only thing that isn't legal is pirating games. (torrents.) but backing up the games you buy etc is 100% legal.

This is why companies lose money, because having someone from sony using a jail broken console in which to earn extra money wouldn't be awesome?

Not sure how companies lose money from this though? We have to get CIDs from dead consoles. So either way sony still made money from the console.

The consoles they sell are worth more, yet they try making back the money from selling the games / accessories / add-ons if you will.. they try to maximize their profits by releasing contents like the PS3 60G I think it was had a component in which wasn't suppose to be in any of the products (this allowed you to play ps1-ps2 games), they stopped marketing this after they realized and then they lost a shit tonne... best thing is a new console being able to support the old games, brings back a part of your child-hood... crash bandicoot, spyro.. they were such good games in which I've only seen spyro be continued making..
