FPS Gaming on the PC
#1
I wonder if there will ever been another FPS game on the PC that has great potential for competitive gaming. I know CS:GO has a competitive scene, but that is because it is CS. The last FPS to have a great competitive scene was COD4, and since then, no other non-CS game has even come close.

It really is a shame, since the whole FPS genre began with the PC. Mouse and keyboard FPS experience is still far superior to a controller, and it's a shame really good FPS have not come out for the PC since.

I now find myself playing free to play games. The only new game I'm looking forward to on the PC is Mirror's Edge 2. I think that game will be awesome. Everyone, except for Valve, have catered to the console community because their is more money there. There certainly needs to be more variety.

Have you looked into ArmA III? Its AMAZING. Lots of really fun game types (Atlis Life which is role playing) (Wasteland 2 teams the third is lone wolf kill to survive find guns etc) its probably brought back FPS on PC. IMO

This! ArmA is the best. Absolutely blows CoD out of the water as far as flexibility and options. I've been playing since the first one, and each one gets better.

The Halo series may be coming to PC next year. It's a shame about what they did to Quake Live, and maybe the free to play Unreal will pick up steam.

CS:GO is good for now though.

I like playing a game called GunZ:The Duel. There is a big learning curve in the game though. There are so many different styles and requires a pretty could hand eye coordination. I think Counter Strike is the best game for FPS on PC that doesn't involve a lot of hackers.

I will have to checkout ArmA III. I never played it. Sounds very promising. I heard of Gunz: The Duel II, but never decided to try it out. I have been playing this Soldier Front 2 exclusively for a while, but it might be time for a change.

The game modes for ArmA III. I know you have explained a few of them. Are they really fun and enjoyable? Are they innovative? Is there a competitive gaming scene for that game? If there is, I might hop on it sooner than later. I'll checkout some youtube videos tonight for sure I think.

If I like it, I'll let my friend know as well. He and I are always looking for different games to play.

Yes the game types are really fun. Wasteland is all combat, take over camps from the other teams raid each other etc. There are AI missions for tanks or supply drops people put mines on the road, sniping is NOT like CoD so only good players usually use a sniper since there is wind and bullet drop.

Atlis life (Role Playing) is great if you like to RP. If you get whitelisted as a cop doing training on the server you can be a cop and the cop watches towns, protects people arrest people etc. But if your a normal civ you can run drugs be normal or be like me and do a Rebel which you get guns and attack the towns and rob people. Its really fun if you do play let me know i'll play with you and help you learn how to play. :)

I would be looking for something action packed. It needs to be a little fast paced. I grew up as a Goldeneye64 FPS/ Quake II CTF player. Quake has set the the bar for me as far as gaming experience. After that, Warsow would be next, which is very similar to Quake but with a bit more speed and movement capabilities which really set it apart. Since those games were fast, yet the gaming community is flooded with military shooters, it is difficult for me to adjust. I find myself playing Soldier of Front 2 only, since it has an arcade like field to it. It still feels like rinse and repeat of other games though. Something new needs to come out and set the bar.

Team Fortress 2 is a good game. I play it every day on Steam. It's fun and also free. Also Alliance Of Valliant Arms is a free-to-play COD-like game, it's good, but it has too many hackers. ;)

Well there's been a bunch of MMOFPS games. I played one a few months back but I can't remember it at all right now. But I really did enjoy it, and yes although it wasn't exactly the best, it wasn't the worst either. Probably nothing on the level CS:GO, but then again it's free so yeah just gotta suck it up and enjoy the game as much as you can.
