I remember when I got home from school and finished my homework I always wanted to watch Checkers & Pogo a local cartoon program. There was Beanie and Cecil, Dennis The Menace, Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Greenjeans and Captain Honolulu another local show for cartoons. I love to watch Lassie, Roy Rodgers and the Lone Ranger too. As I grew up there were Dragnet, Car 54 Where Are You and The Munsters!                         image from http://www.findfreegraphics.com/image-82...nsters.htm Stats Joined: Mar 2014 Posts: 762 Topics: 97 Reputation: Credit: Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts 10 Year Member My days of coming home from school were Scooby Doo, Fairy Odd Parents, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, and others 90's nick series! I loved Angelica, cause her evil ways were always fun to watch and I knew girls like her - sweet in presence of adults, but terrible bullies to other kids. I was disappointed after watching a single Rugrats episode about 2 years ago and not enjoying it all that much. It's an awesome cartoon, but I guess that it's more enjoyable when you're a kid yourself. Oh, and Blossom. I liked Boy Meets World and Blossom because they didn't gloss over uncomfortable issues, like poverty, class difference and alcoholism. Or even abuse. I think there was a Boy Meets World episode where Shawn was hiding a girl in his trailer to keep her from her abusive father. Now, it seems all the shows for young kids are about pop stars and nothing seems as real as those shows. She may have been a bully, but she usually felt bad for the really bad stuff later. It was a really good portrayal of how some bullies really are. I haven't watched it in forever, though, but I've watched some other old shows and don't like them as much, either. Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Power Rangers, Sesame street- Then I got a little bit older (8-9 or so) and I started watching Pokemon and Digimon, along with Yu-Gi-Oh! and a few others. Wasn't really a big fan of scooby doo, though :[ Stats Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 77 Topics: 12 Reputation: Credit: Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts 8 Year Member My favorite childhood show would have to be Avatar: The Last Air Bender. I also liked Batman a lot, the animated series from the early 90s. Another favorite of mine, that I still like to watch to this day, is of course The Simpsons. Just a timeless show in my mind. I actually really miss this show. I loved it and couldn't wait when Legend of Korra was announced. I'm not going to lie, I didn't stick to Legend of Korra as long, but I still love the series in general. Loved all the earlier Disney shows - DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck - as well as the usual little boy culprits known as TMNT and Power Rangers. I was getting a little older by the time Rugrats came on, but I loved it anyway. (Still do. The earlier episodes hold up really well.) I'm a lifelong Transformers fan, as well, so I devoured it every morning, and when Beast Wars came on I became a slave to it for life. The CG is terrible by modern standards, but damn is the writing good. |
