Dark or light theme?
#11
I prefer lighter themes, but I don't mind having the option to switch to a darker one during the evening. In my opinion, lighter themes feel more orderly than dark ones.

I personally prefer light themes myself. I mainly join sites for the content so that's the main reason behind that. Though dark themes aren't bad either. Either way is fine but light themes usually get my attention on a site I wouldn't of been told about prior if I go to one that looks nice. A lot of people put their default style as a dark theme for guest traffic. Which seems to help a lot in keeping users on your page for longer. If you can imagine a user coming to a site for the first time, it's kind of like a shock scenario that has them click out faster, and I know it sounds like you'd have to be some sort of grandma to click out but depending on why the user came to your site would be the reason. Some people only come to your site just to see what's behind the link without a good keyword behind their search. Just a good way to keep users on the page is mainly what it is.

that's very true, I suppose of theme colour or theme style could keep the user's attention occupied for longer.

I'm prone to chronic migraines, so I pick dark themes 99% of the time.

Dark themes are a little painful on my eyes. I end up squinging to see things, but I'm the exception, not the rule. :P

This one looks good here. I like this one far better than most. We had an active member on my website that made a dark derivative of our design for us, and he did a good job on his as well. I like them when they are done right. It's always good to have some variety on a website/forum.
